Comment on Ballantyne's Humor

Here's an insightful comment from a reader about Ballantyne's humor.
. . .In reading Ballantyne, one of the things that is most refreshing is his clear, joyful sense of humor.
Humor nowadays is cheap, silly, and cynical, and sickening to the mind, and the heart as well. Most of it ain't worth a cheap unmanly giggle. Traveling comedians are a dime a dozen, and most of them make a living mocking everything in sight in the most ridiculous, silly, and unbecoming manner.
Ballantyne makes me roar out loud laughing. He had a great understanding of human nature, and mixed with a bit of exaggeration his descriptions can be hilariously funny.
